This Thanksgiving, as we run to catch flights and pile into cars bound for our little corners of the country, the only thing getting us through TSA security checks and mile after mile of endless highway is all the home-cooked food that awaits us.

Prepared by the hands of loved ones, we wait all year to chow down on all that good food, while we catch up with family and give thanks.

With so many plates being passed around the table this Thanksgiving, you’ll want to be sure that Jodi’s favorite pumpkin pie is one of them! Free of dairy and guilt, this dessert won’t weigh you down. That’s what the stuffing and green bean casserole is for. (Just in case you still need another side dish for your meal, check out Jodi’s roasted roots!)

She has been doing some dry runs in her Tennessee kitchen this week, and thought you might want to do a few practice pies before the big day. Ready to get baking’?

Roll up your sleeves, preheat the oven to 375 degrees, and gather the following ingredients:

unspecified

Jodi’s Favorite Pumpkin Pie

  • 1/2 cup coconut palm sugar
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 can pure pumpkin
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • 1 9 inch pie shell

Preheat 375 degrees

  • Combine all filling ingredients in a bowl and puree with hand mixer.
  • Pour filling into pie crust and bake for 40-50 minutes.
  • Stick a toothpick in the middle. If it comes out clean, the pie is perfect.
  • Cool on wire rack for 2 hours. Top with whipped cream and serve immediately.

Mike you have a beautiful family. I often watch and enjoy your TV program. I enjoy listening to the conversations you and Frank have in your van while going from place to place. I can tell both of you enjoy what you do and that is very important and especial in life.
Keep bringing clean TV programming to us, we really enjoy it.

I have a question about a statement Mike keeps making regarding stocking “my store “. He doesn’t refer to it as our store, always my store. Is Frank a partner, friend, buying for his business or what’s the deal?

    1. Sarah Buckholtz Post Author

Antique Archaeology has been Mike’s business for the last 15 years. Both LeClaire and Nashville shops are stocked by him, while Frank has a place in Illinois. He and Frank are pickin buddies with seperate collections. Hope that clears the air, Mike!

I think you guys do a good thing taking history from being lost i myself have wondered what some of the old things I got are worth makes me want to do research to find the history behind it and I think it would be pretty cool to go on a pick and find some cool 18th century stuff that’s been around and if it could talk it would tell stories that would blow your mind just keep up the good work guys I watch your show as much as I can take it easy guys

    Sincerely,Matt Keller

My husband and I are watching this Sunday night. Watching the episode with Prince Mongo in Memphis. Just love the exchange between you. We’d love to know what is going on with him presently. Did he sell the buildings? More money for St. Jude’s? Carry on Keep up the good work.

Is there a special website that you have that people can buy stuff from your stores for home Decore? And if so do you take offers on items? Thanks for your time I’ll look forward to hearing from you! Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!

Hi Gregg! There is not. While we do sell some lights and vintage movie posters on our website, we don’t sell the antiques. That’s because they sell out too quickly for us that by the time we put them online, they’re gone. Best thing to do is just come visit us in person and see what you like! Here are the movie posters: http://www.antiquearchaeology.com/prodlist.php?cat=42

As other’s, I love your show. My Mom gave me the bug to go garage “sailing” year’s ago. We use to go together and have lunch afterwards. She’s gone now but she studied books upon books to zero in on the good stuff! I watch you and Frank on the road and it reminds me of the old times with Mom. I want to thank you for a great show. Reality TV is not my bag. Seeing you and Frank with your little flashlights rummaging through someone’s stuff is a ball. It’s great TV! I had a stroke two years ago and haven’t been “sailing” for the past two years. I miss it so. Watching you and Frank go on the road to find those treasures makes me feel like I’m with you. Merry Christmas to all of you! Keep up the good work! You have a beautiful family!

    1. Sarah Buckholtz Post Author

Your mom sounds like our kind of company. Sending you well wishes for a speedy recovery to go “sailing” once more! Merry Christmas, Sue!

This Aussie wishes Mike and Jodi, and the rest of the extended “pickers” family a very joyous and happy Christmas. I’ve had the pleasure to visit both the LeClaire & Nashville stores, and been made to feel very welcome (particularly in lovely LeClaire). Just never forget that those many hours spent away from your family are appreciated by many of us- and I hope that you realise that you are respected and admired by many.

    Richard

  17. Todd Langford

First of all, my wife and I love the show! Since we first got together back in 2008 we spend the majority of our vacation time antiquing. But I do have a question, with Frank living in Iowa and you (Mike) in Tennessee, how do you both manage to have enough time together to “Pick” and still maintain your personal lives? This can’t be easy.

I have learned a lot about stuff some people would label “junk” and Mike and Frank are a joy to watch and learn from. I do have a question. I have old toys, cars, trains, tin toys, cast iron toys that my wife’s grandfather bought and collected years ago. Her parents were cleaning their garage out and came across a few boxes and asked if we wanted them, they were going to through it all out. Is it possible to drive to your store in LeClaire and show you what I have and see if you are interested in any of it?? I have pics, tried to send them to you guys about 3 years ago but received a reply the pictures could not be opened.
I hav always wanted to see the shop for myself and didn’t know if you could show up with items to see if there is an interest. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

      1. Michael Weslotsky, Jr

        Sarah
I sent some pics last night, reduced the size of the pics. I sure hope it goes through alright. Thanks again for your help.

    ✨✨
    Mike & family–
Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving filled with blessings! Thank you for the non-dairy pumpkin pie recipe which I’ve never seen–looking forward to trying it.
I am cleaning out my parents’/grandparents’ 67-year accumulation of a multitude of things including a collection of antique and vintage cameras and equipment. Please let me know if you might be interested. Happy Picking! Ann
